One night I asked Dicky a serious question. "Did he feel any less isolated?" He responded that "that wasn't the objective." He never answered my question. I wanted to know what it was like to be able to speak with everyone, if he was connecting with anyone, if he still felt like he did the previous year.

I didn't press the subject. I didn't make a connection.

My box is larger than Dicky's, yet I feel more isolated.
